Susan Mitchell finds, “The world is wily, and doesn’t want to be caught.” Catch your world this summer, with five days of exploration, using Mark Doty’s, “The Art of Description,” and other diverse, contemporary authors. You’ll find your own style of description as we examine how we fit the world we experience into a line, sentence, or paragraph. All levels and genres of writers welcome, whether you write poetry, prose, or want to improve your college essays,. The workshop meets at the Virginia Arts of the Book Center, and includes a curated visit to UVA’s Albert and Shirley Small special collections library, writing opportunities on UVA grounds, and a little letterpress printing as we finish on Saturday, and “publish” our writing in our very own hand-stitched books.
